Since being unleashed upon the unsuspecting public in 1997, Arrogant Bastard Ale has challenged fizzy yellow beer drinkers in great numbers with its celebration of intensity. Its quality and depth of flavor was aggressive–just like its head-on attack on the lies and tyranny of corporate beer giants bent on profit rather than producing quality beer.
Penrose Brewing Company was started in 2014 by Eric Hobbs and Tom Korder in Geneva, IL. There with a small team they focus on Belgian inspired session ales, oak barrel-aging, and alternative fermentation. Their beers at Penrose Brewing Company are brewed with intention, as part of a ‘beer first’ culture.
25 years old. Living in the city. Working my tail off in a job I didn’t care much about and waking up every morning with the same sinking feeling and thought racing through my brain, “Why?” I was in what I would later refer to as the “quarter life crisis”. I had proven to myself over 3 years that I could hack it on Wall Street and with that box checked off, I needed my heart to be in it to keep going. But it wasn’t. I didn’t care about the job or the money that came with it.
Jester King is an authentic farmhouse brewery committed to mixed culture and spontaneous fermentation. Our beers incorporate well water, local grains, hops aged in our barn, local fruits and vegetables, foraged plants, and native yeast and bacteria so as to make beer uniquely tied to a time, place, and people. Our inspiration comes from the classic farmhouse breweries of Europe that embrace principles of subtlety, restraint, patience, full attenuation and interesting fermentation character.
